IGS Introduces the Cobalt SP 800:
International Graphics Supplies (IGS) is proud to announce the launch of its latest innovation, the Cobalt SP 800, a single-pass inkjet printer designed to revolutionize the short to medium-run packaging and point-of-sale (POS) markets. This advanced solution combines high speed, precision, and environmental consciousness, delivering exceptional value to commercial printers, packaging businesses, and label converters.
Cutting-Edge Design and Performance
Developed in collaboration with Antel Holding, a leading Chinese supplier of wide-format and label printing machinery, the Cobalt SP 800 is engineered for both performance and versatility. Key features include:
Three Printing Resolutions:
- Up to 32m/min at 1,200x300dpi for high-speed production.
- 16m/min at 1,200x600dpi for balanced speed and quality.
- 8m/min at 1,200×1,200dpi for premium print detail.
Wide Media Compatibility:
Printing width of 800mm and a maximum media height of 200mm allow for a range of rigid, flexible, and precut substrates.High-Quality Printheads:
Powered by the HP FI1000 inkjet printhead, the Cobalt SP 800 delivers exceptional quality and productivity in a single-pass format.
Eco-Friendly, Food-Safe Printing
The printer uses fast-drying, water-based CMYK inks that are environmentally friendly and waterproof immediately after application. Additionally, the inks are compliant with food safety standards, making them ideal for food packaging applications, such as pizza boxes, napkins, and biodegradable containers.
Precision and Reliability
A vacuum-assisted media transport system ensures precise alignment, while built-in infrared sensors provide exceptional accuracy regardless of the size or shape of the product. The inclusion of a cleaner and ionizer removes dust from substrates, protecting printheads and ensuring consistent output.
Peter Flynn, Managing Director of IGS, emphasized the printer’s affordability and value, stating:
“We’re excited to bring our technology to a new market. At an attractive price point of £49,000, including delivery, installation, and a twelve-month warranty, the Cobalt SP 800 offers businesses reliable uptime, higher productivity, and cost-efficient printing at just £0.05 per square meter.”
Titanium Cutter Success Stories
In addition to the Cobalt SP 800 launch, IGS continues to see strong demand for its Titanium series digital cutters, with recent installations at major UK-based print businesses.
Hickling & Squires in Nottingham enhanced its production capabilities with a Titanium 3121 cutting table, complementing its existing Titanium 2516 with router. According to Production Director Jamie Gilbert:
“The Titanium 3121 has significantly boosted our productivity for short-run packaging. Combined with IGS packaging software, it enables us to offer a broader range of packaging and POS designs to our clients.”
Colour Banners in Fleetwood, known for its large-format graphics, installed a second Titanium cutter after successful trade show exhibitions across the UK and Europe. Owner Mark Abbot shared:
“Since our first Titanium cutter in 2019, we’ve never looked back. The Titanium series has been instrumental in increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, helping us tackle more intricate cutting and larger print runs with ease.”
